Born, Jun 29, 1968 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, your full name is Elmer Figueroa Arce, chayanne began his career in 1979 at age 11, when he joined the Menudo band. In 1984. Chayanne embarked on a solo career, debuting with Chayanne Es Mi Nombre.

In 1992 he marries the model and venezuela lawyer Marilisa Maronese, whom he met in 1989. They have two children together: Lorenzo Valentino and Isadora Sofía. They currently live in Miami, Florida. Chayanne has always been eager to keep his private life in secrecy, rarely commenting about it.In 2004, Chayanne's mother, Irma Luz Arce, was diagnosed with cancer. This has prompted him to get involved with international charity groups related to that illness. He has participated in several charity golf tournaments related to the cause.On May 8, 2007, a rumor was spread on Puerto Rico's news media, regarding Chayanne's intentions of running for Governor of Puerto Rico in 2008. However Chayanne expressed that he was not interested in running for Governor and the rumor was a bad joke.
